Some of you have asked to see what our homeschool room looks like… well I have included some pictures. Most of the time it takes place in our little kitchen area. We love it, it is cozy and in our favorite room in the house. We LOVE to eat if you hadn’t noticed. I also use our dining room area to store books and other stuff that doesn’t fit in the tiny shelf in the kitchen. We have tried to use the dining room table since it has more room but has basically been used for our business instead. I am still learning and finding my way. I am 5 weeks in and still haven’t really gotten a groove yet, I assume this is very normal? Moms that have gone before me, can I get an AMEN! I am finding it challenging to homeschool 1 of them while the other 2 have free reign of the house. It has been difficult most days. I have resorted to doing most of the school with Kate while the other 2 are napping but have also found that this is not the best time for her as she is getting tired by then. Believe me, I have been praying about this and asking the Lord to show me, direct me and today he showed me BIG time. I had never really felt the need to have Ryan(3) do the school with us, I feel it is more important at this age that he has free play. Well I decided i would try something different and had thought I would find some fun things he could do with us instead. I had gone onto one of my FAVORITE homeschool blogs (www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com) and downloaded all of her preschool stuff on the Letter of the week that coincides with the Letter of the week I am doing with Kate. I found the types of things Ryan liked to do best and had him do those things while Kate did some of them too, along with her other curriculum, they were easy and fun for all. Molly colored and threw everything that was on the table on to the floor
. But at least they were all contained with me and we had FUN, FUN, FUN!!! Hallelujah, Praise you Jesus!!! It was the most manageable for me which allowed me to not feel like i wanted to pull my hair out because everyone needed me at the same time but in a different room. Oh and can I say worship music is so great to have in the background too!! I could write an entire blog on just music alone, will save for another one I guess. I am learning to keep it fun!! For me, i like having all 3 included in the activities. I will do my best to keep it that way although i know it won’t always work out that way either. Enjoy the pictures. We do use the entire house as a pin cushion for all of our projects… sorry honey!!!

I so appreciate your honesty and candidness…it helps more than you know
Loved getting to see how your homeschool room is setup! Love your blog!
I can get so overwhelmed by all the homeschool moms who do things so well. I’m new, I’m learning and I am willing to share it all with everyone, well almost everything
Glad you enjoy the blog!!
I am so proud of you! And, so glad that God is helping you through this wonderful time in your life! You are awesome and amazing! Let God continue to use you for greatness!
With my limited experience
, I can look back and say – that preschool and Kindergarten…and 1st grade are the hardest!!! 2nd grade is a breeze! So you are in the hardest years…
The reason is my son can now read so he’s more independent. He can read the instructions to a worksheet, he can read all of his own history and science before discussing, he can look up info on-line for reports etc. So he comes in and out of the room through out the day as he does his work.
My daughter on the other hand needs me beside her the entire work time because she can’t read well. So for me, I’m almost over the hump of what I think were the hardest years time wise.
Even now – I get the kids doing handwriting or drawing and then “escape” to empty the dishwasher, rotate laundry or {ahem} facebook
!
It does get easier – but you are in the hardest stage – get your little one reading asap and a little independence follows close after – hooray!!!
Hang in there mama!!! We are on this journey together – homeschooling is a huge sacrifice – it’s not for everyone – but for us – the reward has been 10 fold!
And by the way , I love Confessions of a Homeschooler – you picked a good route with your 3 year old
! (I always had crafty stuff for Lexi to do when she was little like a coloring sheet, water paints, cutting, NO pasting lol!, bendi sticks, legos, books on tape etc. and I used DVD’s – Little People, Veggie Tales, Leap Frog, Barney lol!) Busy hands and busy minds keep children out of trouble.
I hope something here encourages you! Hang in there!!

YAY! I love your new area! Looks like lots of fun! And YES, it does take awhile to get into a groove. Each year will get easier for both you and the kiddos. It just takes some time to see what works and what doesn’t.
Persevere sweet Mama, you’re doing wonderful! Your kids have the best teacher possible, and your love for Jesus and them will carry you through this journey!
And I’m with you, it’s just easier to have things to keep the little guys busy while you’re doing school as opposed to trying to letting them destroy the house! Our first year, my baby painted our carpet with fingernail polish while we were doing school….that’s when I decided to keep her in there with us LOL!
Erica at Confessions thinks you’re awesome!

I recokn you are quite dead on with that.
I must say, thank you all so much for your comments, they encourage me so much and make me want to write more and share all of our up and downs with you.
